I, I, I

An artist based in London, Rebecca Lennon works across media including video, text, performance, sound and music to think about and play with the non-linear shapes and rhythms of the voice, memory and the speaking body. [1]

Divergent poetry, I think.

Do you know what you’re trying to say before saying it? How do you pick your subject?

Spending time with fishermen, started wondering. What it means to catch a fish. How important it is for them to photograph it. To establish ownership.

I was mostly inspired by her ability of presenting her thoughts in such a way that they stay raw and untranslated yet they make sense subconsciously.

There is something very private about her work. Intimate. Like reading into someone’s diary. I assume the use of voice plays a big part in that.

Loads of ‘I don’t know’ in the Q&A. Which aligns with the idea that her work comes from a more unintentional and intuitive place.
