To be able to use and adjust the plug ins while listening in multichannel (as well as using Ableton with Envelop) I tried connecting the octophonic ring speakers to my own laptop through a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20.
Mistake.
The interface comes with a driver and its’ own mixer with output routing. Besides the fact that I have not been able to correctly route the speakers in the mixer and Envelop, my laptop did not agree with the new software installed (be it the driver, the mixer or Envelop). The project refused to open afterwards.
So time to start a new one!
Looking at it positively, I think it would be a good occasion to make clear decisions, sort out my recordings and rethink what has its place in the piece and what doesn’t. I will not be able to redo the vocal sampling but I am now thinking virtual instruments might fit the concept better.
I will also be including some computer generated voice using murf.ai
