Moodboard

After our first meeting we decided that using the Miro board would be a good first step. We were all familiar with the platform from previous units. We thought creating individual moodboards would be a easier way to communicate our ideas.

My part of the moodboard was not particularly rich. It was a bit difficult for me to gather references as I had no experience with the medium. I was mainly looking for projects where the sound had an interesting role in the development of the narrative.

A game that came to mind was the one Vivienne Griffin presented to us during the visiting practitioner lecture last year, The Fake Heaven. I thought her approach to games as a compositional tool being something I haven’t considered before. Her use of voice and spoken word in the game was interesting as well.

‘The Whole Inside ‘ is an installation that I thought might be interesting to bring up sound wise.

‘generative sound mural combining artificial and human voices, expanding the plastic dimension of voice on contouring the body.’

‘The work confronts femininity and abuse, when the body is being depersonalised, subsequently dissociated as a defence mechanism to cope with a traumatic event. The harrowing polyphonic vocal composition is based on a text sourced from the Incels (involuntary celibates) forum.’

Dumbtype’s Lovers VR video was also on my moodboard. This sort of static, delicate, narrated experience is what I’m mostly drawn to.
