Some of the sounds I made for this collaboration.
Whale Sound
The sound was made with a combination of Ableton’s Operator (sinewave) and Native Instruments Micro Prism. Both of these were played and pitch bent, and later layered and ran through reverb.
The intention was for the music to stop playing once the right melodic sequence is played on the bones and be replaced with the following wind texture (layered with the lake ambience). This however seems hard to achieve in VR.
Shimmer
The following sound was meant to be played when the door in the painting scene opens. Unsure whether that’s possible after speaking to Rosa.
Disappearing Effect
Corresponding to the whale skeleton disintegrating. Made from the same sample as the bone bells ran through Soundtoys’ Crystalizer and Echo, layered with Ableton’s Tree Tone. Re-edited so that it is in synch with the animation.
Bone bells
The bell sounds were made using Spitfire’s LABS. I layered them with a wood plank sound for a bit more texture.
The melodic sequence is borrowed from the sound track and following a pentatonic scale for consonance.
